• DO NOT touch the procedure area without washing your hands immediately before. Even though it doesn’t look like one, a wound has been created.
• Wash the area twice daily with a mild antibacterial soap (preferably Dial). DO NOT use a washcloth. DO NOT hold the area directly under water in the shower. Pat the area dry.
• Bl.ink uses a dry healing method. DO NOT use lotion, oils, or ointment unless you have been directly advised by me to do so at your most recent visit.
• To avoid infection, DO NOT wear any makeup near the procedure area for at least 3 days.
Approximate Healing Timeline
Day 1- Your new work will darken throughout the day and start to feel slightly sore, like sunburn. Brows may appear uneven and eyeliner may appear wavy due to swelling. Feel free to use a cold compress for any discomfort.
Days 2-3- Swelling & discomfort should be minimal, but the depth of color will be at its height. Don’t worry!! The initial boldness does not reflect your final result.
Day 4-5- For many brow clients, a “cocoon” will form over the work area. Some clients will only experience flaking. Either is ok. For eyeliner clients, this stage might feel like “snakeskin”.
Day 6-7- The “cocoon” will start to fall off. It will likely come off in pieces. DO NOT scrub, rub or pick!! Allow it to flake off by itself. If it is removed forcibly, the pigment underneath will be compromised and scarring can occur. It will likely be itchy. DO NOT scratch. Press lightly to relieve itchiness. Work will typically appear healed after 7 full days.
Week 2- Your color will have faded approx. 50% & appear much softer & more natural looking. In some cases, it may appear as if the color has disappeared completely. As the skin naturally exfoliates, some color will return. It WILL NOT heal perfectly after 1 round. THIS PROCESS TAKES 2 PROCEDURES TO BE COMPLETED. A 2nd service within 8 weeks after the 1st session (included in today’s price), is necessary to achieve even & lasting color and shape.
Important Notes:
• “Permanent” cosmetics are actually semi-permanent & are designed to fade as your face changes with age. Expect to schedule a touch up 1-2 years after the initial procedure. Touch ups will only require 1 appointment. After 3 years, your service will be considered NEW & full priced.
• Use a minimum of SPF 15 daily after the procedure area is healed to slow the fading process.
Failure to follow these instructions can result in infection, scarring, pigment loss &/or discoloration.
