Since the dawn of Instagram and KUWTK, full eyebrows have stepped into the spotlight for their 15 (and seemingly unending) minutes of fame. I couldn't be happier, as it has completely changed my business from hobby to a pretty solid income. So while most people are busy hating, I credit Kim K. with making my world a better place!
Fast forward a few years and suddenly the word microblading is being hashtagged like crazy and everybody and their brother wants "microblading" instead of "permanent cosmetics."
Now, I realize that it sounds like its ME who may be the hater here, but hear me out!
WHAT MICROBLADING IS & WHAT IT ISN'T:
As a final lesson for the day, I beg you to do one thing: If you are considering having someone permanently mark your most noticed feature (your face, of course), please do your homework! Whether you choose me, or someone else to do your service, make sure to see plenty of pictures of the artists work. Make sure that it looks like alllll of your eyebrow hopes and dreams. Do NOT shop for the best price and do NOT choose someone just because they post cute memes on IG.
If you have questions, feel free to comment or message me privately. I'm always happy to chat!
I hear the same concerns over and over again. This doesn't mean that I am sick of addressing them; it means that I am not doing a good enough job of informing my (potential) customer on the answers. So here you go-
TOP 5 MYTHS... DEBUNKED!!
1- PERMANENT COSMETICS ARE PERMANENT.
I can't imagine why you would think such a thing!! hahaha If I could change the name, I would; but the industry calls it this, and I do too. It is truly semi-permanent cosmetics though. When you think permanent, think permanent marker. Eventually it will fade away, but it doesn't wash off.
How nice would it be to wake up, shower, swim, and sweat while your eyebrows, liner or lips stay perfect?
2- WE SHAVE OFF YOUR REAL EYEBROW.
We do not. It's an understandable misconception. As a tattooed girl, I know that when you get a tattoo, they shave the hair- even if you don't think you have hair (like on your wrists). Within the new microblading standard, they also tend to shave the hair (it makes brows look good in pictures). We respect your desire to keep your hairs and appreciate the natural 3D texture that the hairs create (even when there is only a few).
3- THEY LOOK FAKE.
At bl.ink, we do a combination of microblading and tapping to get the most natural possible look, We work within your own hair (IF you have any, it's ok if you don't) to create a literal 3D effect, and use color(s) that match the hairs you have. Sometimes its difficult, even for me, to tell which hairs are real and which are hand drawn- even up close.
4- I WONT BE ABLE TO CHANGE MY HAIR COLOR.
When choosing the appropriate ink color for eyebrows, my goal is to match as closely as possible to any real hair you have. That way, it looks like it grew out of you, no matter what color you change your hair to. I've been platinum, red, you name it. Today, my hair is purple, my brows are brown. That is what looks natural for me because it is! If you wear a hit color that is very different from your natural, I can adjust that to some extent. Obviously, if you wear your hair blonde, but are originally dark, I cannot lighten your eyebrow.
Typically for light hair shades, the natural brow is 1-2 shades darker.
For dark hair shades, the brow is 1-2 shades lighter.
5. THE COLORS FADE OUT TO BLUE OR PINK.
I can't hide from this. They do sometimes. The first year that I worked, I was lucky if they didn't.
So I researched like crazy to find the best brands of pigments on the market to offer you permanent cosmetics that fade neutral, not to odd shades of mauve or blue steel. If you choose to keep up the look, come in for a tune-up (offered at special pricing for bl.ink customers). If you don't choose to keep them up, you will have a template to use for filling them in until the color fades away.
