Only a month ago, I sat at my kitchen table & told Ryan (my boyfriend) that I was thinking of leaving my studio space. It was freezing cold & people hated to take the 100 year old elevator to the fourth floor. I told him I was going to look for a new office space. He whole heartedly DISagreed, insisting it was time that I think about a storefront & that I should carry a retail line or two. He owns a very successful business, so I listen when he speaks up. I knew that the idea would not pull together quickly, but I sent out one email to see what was available (hey, why not?). That weekend I sat down with longtime family friends who own many of Geneva's storefronts to see what was available in a tiny size and in my price range. By the end of the day I held in my hands the key to one of downtown Geneva's most beautiful (NOT tiny) spaces. It was already built out almost exactly as I would have done it, if I had done it myself. I would need a bit more than a retail line or two to fill this space!
It took about a week of freaking out to realize that not only was this actually happening, but I wanted to open in time for the holiday season this year. So I started working. Constantly. So did my family. So did my friends. And somehow it came together. On Friday, December 6th, my mom & I tore the paper off of the windows & I unlocked the doors for business!
I still can't believe that my 5 year plan became my 3 week plan. Anything is possible with hard work and a great support system. A ridiculous amount of thanks to everyone who helped the new bl.ink permanent cosmetics & beauty bar open it's doors. Please come visit my dream come true at 471 Exchange Street in Geneva NY.
